# Part

CrownCAD provides a Part Design Module with parametric modeling, direct modeling, and curve/surface geometry capabilities, enabling rapid part design initiation.

3D model creation starts with 2D cross-sections (i.e., Sketches) that generate 3D geometry through defined methods. Mastering sketching equates to mastering the core of 3D modeling. Previous tutorials covered sketching; this section demonstrates part module functions via a practical example.

  1. Base Features, Commands operating directly on sketch profiles:
  • Material-adding: Extrude, Revolve, Sweep, Loft → Boss Features.

  • Material-removing: Extruded Cut, Revolved Cut → Cut Features.

  1. Editing Features, Modify existing geometry or create identical features:
  • Local modifications: Chamfer, Fillet.

  • Pattern tools: Mirror, Pattern (Linear/Circular).

  1. Datum Features, Reference geometry for model positioning:
  • Datum Planes,

  • Datum Axes,

  • Datum Coordinate Systems.

  1. Feature Tree, Records the part creation process:
  • Each node represents a feature.

  • Displays feature information in chronological/relational order.

  • Enables Feature Editing through historical backtracking.

  1. Visualization Tools, Enhance design evaluation:
  • Appearance controls: Entity/Face colors & textures.

  • Material Library: Physical property assignments.

  • Display modes: Shaded, Hidden Line Removed, Wireframe.
