# Sketch
Sketches serve as the foundation of 3D modeling, bridging 2D and 3D environments while enabling parametric modeling.
CrownCAD, powered by its proprietary DCS Geometric Constraint Solver and DGM Modeling Engine, paired with an intuitive UI, facilitates rapid sketch creation.
- Launching Sketches, Access the sketching interface by:
Clicking the "Create Sketch" button on the toolbar.
Selecting a datum plane or any planar face.
- Sketch Creation Module, Provides comprehensive drafting commands for basic geometry:
Primitive tools: Point, Polyline, Rectangle, Circle.
Composite tools: Slot, Polygon, Spline.
- Constraint Module, Automatically determines applicable geometric constraints based on selected entities:
Dimensional Constraints: Angle, Length, Distance.
Geometric Constraints: Tangent, Coincident, Perpendicular, Parallel, Pierce, Collinear.
- Editing Module, Offers transformative operations for geometry:
Modification tools: Fillet, Chamfer, Trim.
Pattern tools: Offset, Mirror, Reference Edges.
- Auxiliary Functions, Enhances workflow efficiency:
"Check Sketch": Locates sketch errors (open contours, duplicate entities).
"Delete Constraints": Resolves over-constrained/unsolvable conditions.
Visibility toggles: Sketch Constraints / Sketch Dimensions.
Efficiency tools: Mouse Gestures & 'S' Key Shortcut Menu.
