# New Part

Creates a new part document under the current assembly document, which is automatically added to the assembly and can be saved as a separate document.

How to do it:

  1. Click the drop-down key of 【Insert】, select 【New part】, and the Create a new part document dialog box will pop up.

  1. Enter the document name, the default is Part* if you do not enter, and click 【Create】. The mouse moves to the viewport, is displayed when it is placed on the plane or datum plane, and is displayed when other positions are displayed.

Note:

When the mouse pointer is on, click the plane or datum to create a blank document. The front datum of the new part document coincides with the selected surface, and automatically adds a coincidence constraint. When the mouse pointer is, click to create a new blank part document, the origin of the document overlaps with the origin of the assembly, and has its own fixed constraints.

  1. After the part document is created, it is displayed in the instance list, and the function of "Edit parts" is automatically opened, which can directly edit the part.

Note:By default, newly created parts are virtual components that exist only within the assembly and do not support right-click navigation. Only when the option 【Save new components as documents】is selected under 【System Settings】- 【System Options】-【Assembly】, will newly created parts automatically generate individual documents.
