# New Part
Creates a new part document under the current assembly document, which is automatically added to the assembly and can be saved as a separate document.
How to do it:
- Click the drop-down key of 【Insert】, select 【New part】, and the Create a new part document dialog box will pop up.
- Enter the document name, the default is Part* if you do not enter, and click 【Create】. The mouse moves to the viewport, is displayed when it is placed on the plane or datum plane
, and is displayed when other positions are displayed

Note:
When the mouse pointer is on, click the plane or datum to create a blank document.The front datum of the new part document coincides with the selected surface, and automatically adds a coincidence constraint.
When the mouse pointer is
, click to create a new blank part document, the origin of the document overlaps with the origin of the assembly, and has its own fixed constraints.
- After the part document is created, it is displayed in the instance list, and the function of "Edit parts" is automatically opened, which can directly edit the part.
Note:By default, newly created parts are virtual components that exist only within the assembly and do not support right-click navigation. Only when the option 【Save new components as documents】is selected under 【System Settings】- 【System Options】-【Assembly】, will newly created parts automatically generate individual documents.
