# Shell


Used to solidly remove material to generate thin-walled features.

Click on the toolbar to open the ShellIng dialog box, the interface of which is shown in the following figure.

  1. Face to remove: Removes this face and creates thin-walled features on the remaining faces, so you can select multiple.

  2. Solid to thicken: Form a hollow thin-walled solid, single select.

Note:

The Face to Remove and Solid to Thicken command exist independently, select one and close the other pick box.

  1. Thickness: The characteristic thickness of the remaining faces.

Note:

Thickness values can only be positive; When there are fillets, the thickness cannot be greater than the radii of the corners.

  1. Shell thickness facing outward: The default is not checked, and the thickness of the remaining surface can be expanded backwards after the check is checked.

  2. Multi-thickness surface: The default is not checked, after checking, you can pick up other surfaces to add different thicknesses to form a thick shell.

Example 1: After picking up the parameters, the face shell (remove the upper surface) preview effect is shown in the following figure.

Example 2: The multi-thickness preview effect under the solid shell is shown in the following figure.
